Its around the corner..
The swap is in just 4 short days. I hope that people come regardless of whether or not you have anything to bring or not. There will be plenty to go around. Any and all surplus clothing will be donated to the Holy Family Clothes Closet here in Auburn, NY.

Second Swap
The second swap has been tentatively scheduled for the 17th of April, 2010. We are still working out the specifics on the location of the swap. Please plan to come and plan to bring your friends and family as well.

Thanks for sharing.
Thank you to all who attended the First swap and the Auburn Public Theater for donating their space for our swap. We had a good turnout and I enjoyed meeting all of the great moms that attended.
I hope everyone got something that they can use for their kids. My daughter 'M' loves her new pink shoes and her baby carrier from the swap (thank you whomever brought them)!
All 9 grocery bags of clothes which were left-over from the swap were donated to the Open Closet at the Holy Name Church, in Auburn.
I am looking forward to the next swap. Please keep an hour of the second Saturday in June open. In the mean time I will try to figure out ways to make the swap more efficient and easy to navigate.

A Bit Worried
The swap is scheduled for Saturday, I haven't heard that anyone is considering attending. If you are intending to attend, please just drop a quick comment. I would like to know if it is going to be worth getting the swap set-up.

Clothing Swap Preparations
The first swap is scheduled for February 28th @ the Auburn Public Theater (see previous post for event details).
TIP for the swap:
Start sorting out your clothing for the swap now. In our house we have a couple of bags labeled with sizes, and as we find clothing which no longer fits or is no longer wanted, we simply put it in the correct bag.
CPSC has issued a clarification of the requirements of new children's product safety laws taking effect in February.

Kids Clothing Swap
Here's some info about the clothing swap:
Round up unwanted clean children's clothing, accessories, and other wearables your kids don't use or love anymore and bring them to the swap!
WHEN: February 28, 2009 10:00am - 11:00am . The swap will last about 1 hour. You will probably want to arrive a bit early to log in your items to be swapped.
WHO: Anyone looking to swap kids items. Please know that the meeting area will not be child-proofed.

BRING: Clean clothes in reasonable condition, no rips, tears, visible stains, etc. There are no minimum requirements for how many items you have to bring (how many you bring is how many you can take), but please be courteous and generous. Don't forget to bring a bag to carry your treasures home in.
In addition to clothing, you can also bring gently used kids' accessories and other wearables: shoes, hats, scarves and mittens, sunglasses, bibs and bottles, maternity clothes.
HOW IT WORKS: Clothes will be separated by gender and major size groups and marked with signs. Add the clothes you bring into the matching size pile(s). At the designated time, you look through the piles to find the items in the sizes you need and put them in your bag. Items that do not get swapped will be donated to low income and high needs families in our community.
